About the Columbus Carriage Classic

Welcome to the twelfth annual Columbus Carriage Classic. The Columbus Carriage Classic is brought to life by community members. Volunteers and sponsors work to decorate the grounds, manage the event and organize this show. The Columbus Carriage Classic is consistently one of the biggest driving shows in the country.

It begins on Thursday when trailers start pulling into the parking lot, and horses are unloaded and bedded down in their temporary stalls.  By Friday afternoon the competition has begun with the very popular Town and Country Obstacles.  Saturday morning brings obstacle competition and classes in the arena.

Saturday noon will feature a trick horse show to delight the spectators. Derrick Dupler is showing his Morgan mare, Princess Rhia. Don't miss this fabulous performance. Rhia will be painting a picture that will be included in the silent auction.

Saturday late afternoon the drivers and horses take to the streets of Columbus. Competitors take their horses on a route around the city and have several tests to complete along the way. Some of the best viewing is along Dickason Boulevard and James Street. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy this unique parade.

Sunday morning we are back in the ring and competing in the last obstacle class.  Columbus Carriage Classic is held on Father's Day weekend, and Sunday noon is our famous Father's Day class. A father and daughter or son must be in the carriage. The rest of the decorating is left to the imagination of the competitor.

Columbus Carriage Classic is possible because of the many sponsors and volunteers.  If you are interested in helping out, please give a call. There are many volunteer opportunities at the Classic for anyone who likes to have fun!
